IN DIVORCE,
A DECREE GRANTED.Andrew Hanna petitioned for a dissolution of his marriage with Maud Percy Hanna, on the ground of alleged desertion. Two Auckland counsel were retained, Mr Singer appearing for petitioner and Mr Quarterloy for respondent,. The case was originally set down for hearing before a judge and a jury of twelve, but upon the proceedings opening this morning Mr Singer intimated-that he had been advised that the respondent was unagreeable to the jury being dispensed with. Andrew Hanna, the petitioner, said that he was married to respondent on June 8th, 1912. Shortly after the marriage respondent went to America, returning at the end of the year. The parties had never lived together. Mr Singer stated that arrangements had been made between the parties with regard to permanent maintenance. Counsel emphasised that there was no suggestion of any impropriety whatsoever on the part of the respondent, and the separation was entirely mutual. The respondent offering no objection, His Honour made an order for a decree nisi, to be moved absolute at the end of three months.[ SUPREME COURT.MANAWATU STANDARD, VOLUME XLIII, ISSUE 479, 18 AUGUST 1922, PAGE 5 ]
