==Disputed Origins==This profile was previously connected as a child of William Reynolds of Providence Plantations. No evidence exists to confirm the relationship and the profiles have been detached.
== Biography == She has been detached from Henry Connelly (1585-1625) as spouse due to lack of evidence.
Katherine Reynolds is named as wife of Edward Starbuck. [Lydia Swain Mitchell Hinchman, Early Settlers of Nantucket, Their Associates and Descendants (Philadelphia: Ferris & Leach, 1901) p. 204 Page 19.]
No source for her surname has ever been located, and no records of her birth or parents is known to exist.
=== Spouse and Children ===She married Edward Starbuck Jr. circa 1625.[William Richard Cutter, A. M., Genealogy - Boston and Eastern Massachusetts (Lewis Historical Publishing Company, New York, 1908) ]

Research Notes
As to her parents:
Stephen Frederick Tillman, Christopher Reynolds and His Descendants (1959), pages 191, 203, lists “William Reynolds” and “Esther Ruth - or Roth” as the parents of “Catherine Reynolds,” wife of Edward Starbuck. As a source, he reports the name of the person who provided him with the information, but nothing about where that person may have obtained the information. (Tillman also says that she had a second husband, named Joseph Austin—a claim that is difficult to reconcile with other information we have on her. Her daughter Sarah was married to a Joseph Austin, so Tillman's claim may be a confusion between mother and daughter.)
James Carlton Starbuck, Starbucks All (1984), page 117, identifies her parents as "Robert Reynolds and Esther Ruth (?) (Roth) Reynolds" but provides no sources.
Other sources cited on this profile provide no information as to Katherine's parents, so on that point we have only the conflicting claims of two secondary sources.
As to the date and place of death:
Alexander Starbuck, The History of Nantucket (1924), page 802, says "[t]here seems to be no record regarding [Edward Starbuck's wife, Katharine Reynolds], but as the early records of births, marriages and deaths kept by William Worth seem to be quite complete and her name does not appear in them the presumption is that she died before the family removed to Nantucket." Also, "[t]he probabilities are that she died in Dover."
New England Historical and Genealogical Register, vol. 8, p. 68, says that Edward Starbuck's wife "Katharine went with him" when he settled on Nantucket but provides no source. The same is said by William Richard Cutter, Genealogical and Personal Memoirs Relating to the Families of Boston and Eastern Massachusetts (1908), p. 1622.
Nathaniel Philbrick, Away Off Shore (1994, 2011), Chapter 3, states that "there is no evidence, however, that [Edward Starbuck's] wife Katherine ever emigrated to Nantucket."
Other sources cited on this profile say nothing on this question. Katherine is not found in the Nantucket Vital Records. Barney Genealogical Record lists her as “Catherine Reynolds” of Wales but provides no dates.
The 2009 founder's monument at Nantucket (pictured on the profile) gives her date of death as 1658.[ 137229140 ] While the source for that is unknown, it seems reasonable to go with that on the assumption that they did decent research before erecting such a monument, the lack of any Nantucket records on her, and on the reasoning suggested above that she never made it to Nantucket, so she probably died in Dover before her husband left there to settle on Nantucket.
The Reynolds' family genealogies are rife with error, speculation, and conflation. Pre 1700 profiles aim to use only reliable sources. See: Link
