*There was a branch of the Cof?n family in New Hampshire, descended from TRISTRAM COFFIN of Newbury and Nantucket, through his eldest son
      I. PETER of Dover and Exeter, whose son
II. TRISTRAM was of Exeter, and had sons:
      # Eliphalet, b. 13 January, 1689. # Tristram, b. in 1691COFFIN GATHERINGS: Five Generations of Descendants of Tristram Coffin of Newbury and Nantucket, By W. S. Appleton. Boston: Press of David Clapp & Son, 1896, p 39

      * Fact: http://familysearch.org/v1/LifeSketch Information at Dover, NH "Woodman's Museum" about Tristram Coffin and his father's family in Dover during the Cocheco Massacre. The massacre occurred in the shadow of King Phillip's war. However, the locals of Dover were on peaceful terms with the aboriginal natives; about 25% were massacred. The museum kiosk reads "Cap't Peter Coffin's Garrison was looted but not destroyed since the Indians had no grudge against him. He was taken as a captive to his son's garrision." Also, "Tristam Coffin was Peter's son. His garrison withstood the attack, but the Indians threatened to kill Peter if not admitted. Tristam let them in. They looted the garrison and made the Coffin's captives, but they were able to escape." -Museum data recorded 16 Dec, 2017, by Kelly Child
