"Margaret, ch Capt. Josiah and Elizabeth, July 9, 1721. [w. John Whitney, MD of Boston, w. Shubael Gardner (s. Joseph and Ruth (Coffin)), d. Maj. Josiah and Elizabeth (Coffin), 9th, 7 mo., PR 38.]" She married twice: === Marriage 1 ===First, about 1740 -1742, to Shubael Gardner, son of Joseph Gardner and Ruth Coffin Gardner. It is not clear when Shubael Gardner died, but he was alive when his father, Joseph, wrote his 1743 will. The estate was probated in October 1747 and divided among the beneficiaries in 1748, at which time it was noted that Shubael had died at sea. === Marriage 2 ===Second, about 1744 -1745, in Nantucket, to Dr. John Whitney, son of Nathaniel Whitney and Sarah Ford Whitney. John and Margaret Whitney had children Mary, Sarah, Margaret and John Coffin Whitney. === Death ===Margaret Coffin Gardner Whitney likely died in York County, Maine about 1752-1753.
