=== Birth ===Henry was born in 1716 on Nantucket. He was the son of [[Coffin-735|Jonathan Coffin]] and [[Harker-61|Hepsabeth Harker]].
Henry Coffin was the seventh of ten children born to Jonathan Coffin (1692-1773), one of Nantucket's earliest whalers. In a 1749 deed transferring a plot of land from Jonathan, Henry was referred to as a Mariner. Presumably Henry set about to build the house now known as 22 Fair Street soon after taking ownership of the land from his father. He passed away just six years later, at the early age of 40, survived by his parents and many siblings, as well as his wife Mary Woodbury (d. 1794) and five children; Mary likely gave birth to the two youngest -- Shubael and Thaddeus -- in the house that Henry built.
=== Death ===
Henry Coffin passed away in 1756.
Mary went on to remarry after Henry's death.
