=== DNA ===mtDNA Results '''W5a2'''[[https://mayflowerdna.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mary_Norris_(mtDNA) MayflowerDNA.org wiki mtDNA profile of Mary Norris]]The [https://www.familytreedna.com/public/mayflowersociety?iframe=yresults Mayflower DNA Project] lists one matrilineal (all female line) descendant of Mary. It is presumed this individual has taken the full mtDNA test, which tests every single base pair of the mitochondrial DNA.[Due to the fact some mtDNA mutations are directly linked to health issues, Full mtDNA results are not revealed on any FTDNA website. Instead, FTDNA only reveals the HVR (Hyper Variable Region) I & HVR II mtDNA results.] FTDNA has assigned this individual to the W5a2 mtDNA haplogroup. Today this rare lineage is present at trace frequencies in the populations of Norway, Scotland, Ireland, and Germany.[[https://web.archive.org/web/20220817140636/https://haplogroup.org/mtdna/rsrs/l123456/l23456/l2346/l346/l34/l3/n/n2/w/w5/w5a/w5a2/ Haplogroup.org] (Link via Wayback Machine at Archive.org, capture date 17 Aug 2022.)] Given the locations this haplogroup is found, it is possible Mary's family may have lived near Scrooby and participated in the early Separatist Church at Scrooby Manor.
