Biography
=== Parentage; Date and Place of Birth ===Elizabeth Bourne was the daughter of Thomas Bourne and Elizabeth (Unknown) Bourne. As discussed in her father's profile, the origin of the family has not been determined and, as a result, no birth or baptismal record has been definitively associated with her. Based on her parents' estimated date of marriage (1607), her sister Margaret's estimated date of birth (1608) and the date of her marriage (December 1638), she was probably born sometime in 1609-1621, with a midpoint of about 1615. Per the discussion in the profile for her father, the theory that the family originated in Kent was based on a misreading of his will and their place of origin is unknown, although presumably in England.
=== Immigration ===As discussed in her father's profile, her father probably immigrated to the Plymouth Colony with his family sometime in 1636-1637. It is likely that Elizabeth immigrated with him. The first record of her, however, is her marriage in 1638.
=== First Marriage and Children ===Elizabeth married Robert Waterman on December 11, 1638 in Plymouth Colony. They were no doubt technically married in the town of Plymouth, rather than Marshfield, because the town of Marshfield was not incorporated until 1640. Prior to that time, it was a part of the town of Plymouth known as Greenes Harbor.
Elizabeth and Robert had the following children (and perhaps others), all born at Marshfield, Plymouth Colony:# John, born April 19, 1642# Thomas, b. "ye last November" 1644# Joseph, the compilation of the Marshfield Vital Records suggests that he may have been born about 1639/40; however, a court order dated February 1665 approves a guardian selected by him and thus indicates he was over 14 but under 21 at that time, which would mean that he was born sometime in February 1644 - February 1651; this later date range is also consistent with the birth dates of his own children.# Robert, probably born about 1652, as a court order dated February 1665 indicated that he was not of age to select his own guardian (14) at that time.
Elizabeth's first husband, Robert, died at Marshfield on December 10, 1652. Elizabeth sold some of the land in Robert's estate to her second husband, Thomas Tilden, to enable her to settle debts of the estate.
=== Second Marriage and Children ===Elizabeth married, second, Thomas Tilden. No record of their marriage has been found, but secondary sources support the marriage, as does his involvement in the settlement of Elizabeth's first husband's estate. Based on the death of Elizabeth's first husband in Marshfield in December 1652 and a record of the birth of a child of Thomas Tilden in Marshfield in June 1654, they were probably married in Marshfield in 1653.
Elizabeth and Thomas had the following children, all born in Marshfield:# son, b. June 26, 1654, d. June 29, 1654# son, b. October 4, 1655, d. October 5, 1655# Lydia, b. April 26, 1658
Death
Elizabeth died at Marshfield on December 12, 1663.
